It’s 520BC and God’s people are back in Jerusalem after the exile, but all is not right. The rebuilding of the Temple, destroyed by the Babylonians, got off to a great start, but the project has been dormant for 16 years. Discouragement has set in. The people might have wondered– what is God up to?

But God was still doing what he had always been doing– establishing His Kingdom. Fast forward to today, and we find that this is still the case. The challenge that God’s people face in every generation is this– will we engage with this Kingdom building or not?

God’s word though his prophet Zechariah is a great word of encouragement to God’s people.
